Overview of our Summer Tutoring Program

We offer a 4-week program for parents who want to make sure their children are mentally engaged during the summer. With our program, your child will have the option of a full or half day of enrichment. Don’t worry about your child suffering a loss of skills during the summer and instead see just how much your child can learn during 4 weeks with us. Our summer tutoring program features morning and afternoon sessions consisting of reading, writing, math and science. Your child will be able to engage in reading discussions, creative writing, science labs, interactive science experiments, and fun games meant to facilitate learning. We utilize a two-part system to improve your child’s skills. We make sure to cover material from the previous school while including information to prepare them for the upcoming school year.

Our summer program consists to 2 summer sessions: Semester I and Semester II. Both semesters will have the same content, so feel free to choose the semester that fits into your family’s summer schedule.

Reading and Writing Summer Tutoring

Morning sessions will focus on Reading and Writing. During these sessions we are focused on helping your student develop the core skills needed to properly comprehend and analyze reading materials. We are committed to promoting independent and critical thinking through various activities designed to help stimulate your child’s curiosity and desire for learning which include but are not limited to group discussion, memory training and creative writing. Through this system, our students can gain additional perspective and recognize the difference in experiences between people regarding the same events. Outside exposure to different experiences through literature allows your child to develop empathy as well as improve their critical thinking. It can be hard to get a child in ‘summer mode’ to commit to reading and writing during the summer months. During our summer tutoring program, your child will have fun and reflective writing activities, learn reading comprehension strategies from books on the Fort Bend I.S.D summer reading list.

Math and Science Summer Tutoring

No child wants to spend the summer doing rote math problems to improve their skills. With our summer tutoring program your child will take part in fun brain teasers to test and improve their math skills. Our afternoon sessions are geared towards Math and Science skill development. We use board games and other fun activities to stimulate your child’s interests and teach them the core mathematics concepts related to playing some of their favorite games. While playing Monopoly, your child is strengthening their math skills while considering strategy, “If you roll a 5 the first time, what number do you need on the next roll to get to the 12^th spot and pass go?”. Or they may need to consider probability”What is the probability that you will get a 6 on this roll and a 3 on the next?”. By thinking of the world around them through the lens of mathematics, your child will be acquiring the keys to future success in the classroom.

Your child will learn how math and science are used in various professions and they will be able to apply the skills learned through fun games like Uno, Twister and Monopoly. While in our science sessions, your child will be able to apply concepts through hands-on instruction. We provide science lab options with all the required and necessary lab safety. You child will make borax crystals, grow their own plants and worth with density tubes, all in a fun and engaging way. Your child will be able to see with their own eyes what science is about through our enrichment program and how what they learn is applied to real life.

Small Group Environment

The students in our summer program will be broken up into academic groups of no more than 4 students per group. Your child’s imagination will be stimulate and developed as they are focused on learning about the different major genres in writing:

Descriptive
Expository
Journals and Letters
Narrative
Persuasive
Poetry

Your student will learn how to develop the social skills to properly engage and continue discussion in a group setting on assigned reading topics.

Tuition includes all necessary books and materials with the addition of complimentary snacks. It is suggest that students bring a lunch to eat during their break time. There is also an option for extended care till 6pm as needed.
